Easy Broccoli and Cheese Recipe

Easy Broccoli and Cheese Recipe

Broccoli is one of the few vegetables that everyone in my family will consistently eat. And adding a yummy cheese sauce to it automatically takes it to the next level!

This is a great recipe to have in your repertoire. It’s quick and easy, you can keep all the ingredients on hand, and it’s a great side dish to serve with any meal.

Let’s start with the cheese sauce. When I learned this hack it was a game changer for me! It’s so easy and delicious, and you can literally put it on anything!

Before I learned this method, I would make a homemade white sauce using butter and flour to thicken milk and then adding cheese to it. Don’t get me wrong, this makes a creamy and delicious sauce. But it takes time and effort and a little bit of luck to get the desired consistency.

With this sauce, you start with evaporated milk. Because most of the water has already been removed, the evaporated milk is thick and rich from the beginning. You just heat it up a little, add the cheese and some seasonings to it and you’re done! A beautiful, thick and creamy cheese sauce.

Most of the time I just use frozen broccoli for this recipe. I always keep some in the freezer. I don’t have to worry about running to the store to get fresh broccoli or having it go bad before I remember to use it. But you can totally swap out fresh broccoli if you have it.

You can cook your broccoli any way you prefer. I usually just steam it in the microwave because it’s quick and easy. But you could steam it on the stove top, sauté it in a pan, or even roast it in the oven. Whatever strikes your fancy.

Once your broccoli’s done, just pour that beautiful cheese sauce over it and serve it right away! Your kids will love the cheesy deliciousness, and you will love that they are eating their veggies!
